Penny Matthews - Mismade Trick Revealed

Description

Since someone pretty much got it already, I’m not against revealing the secret:

  1. Stacked boxes (closed) aren’t empty - Kelly is already inside.
  2. Penny walks in, Kelly sticks her arms out holes.
  3. Penny helps Kelly up into backbend, Kelly holds herself in place by pressing against back wall of chest box.
  4. Penny sneaks out as Tracy inserts blades, hides in false floor of platform.
  5. Tracy lifts boxes with “slight difficulty”, Penny hides in them as they’re placed down on platform.
  6. Boxes opened. Penny moves her head and feet, and Kelly waves her arms, simulating a disassembled Penny.
  7. Boxes closed. Tracy restacks boxes, Penny hiding in false floor.
  8. Penny slips inside boxes as blades removed, helps Kelly down from backbend.
  9. Penny walks out, Kelly retracts her arms.
  10. Boxes taken backstage with Kelly inside.

Yes, I noticed a few mistakes after drawing the solution. The first, and biggest, is that Penny’s thighs and calves are not the same length. This is a mistake in posing upon drawing: it is still possible (with effort) to fit her legs inside while not destroying the illusion. The second is that the false floor guide does not have enough space for Penny’s entire body. Take this as a guide for where she positions herself inside the floor, and not an accurate representation of the space inside the platform.

I’d hate to admit it, but this is one of the few unconventional variations of common stage illusions that I’ve made (the other being a Modern Art where Kelly is again doing a backbend - it’s one of the early human Partway posts). If you have any suggestions for some, feel free to tell me about them. I may even end up drawing them, if they work well enough.
