Literature Text

The next morning, you wake up in the room you were sent to the day before. It is surprising how much you forgot about the day before, but memories instantly flood your head as you wake up.

Sitting up, you notice that you were lying in the bed, but on top of the sheets. After that time spent with Claudia's left hand, watching it do amazing stunts including walking on its index and middle fingers, you felt too tired to get prepared for bed so you just slumped on it and instantly fell asleep. Looking over to the coffee table, you see Claudia's left hand as active as ever.

I wonder how she does that, You ask yourself, Managing to control her hand while she goes on with her life.

You head into the bathroom, picking her hand up on the way, and have a shower. You manage to wash both yourself and the hand, even though it managed to keep slipping and squirming in your arms. With yourself wrapped in a large towel, you wipe her hand clean with another and sit it down so you can get dressed.

Once dressed, you pick up Claudia's hand and sit down on the sofa, placing it on the sofa. Bored, you think of things you could do with her hand. Coming up with only one idea, you grin devilishly and pick up the hand, bringing it towards you.

Holding it firmly so it doesn't move, you shove it in your pants pocket. It squirms heavily, unable to get out, and you squeeze the top of the pocket to prevent it from getting out. Suddenly it stops, so you wait for another response.

Instead of seeing Claudia's hand move, you hear footsteps come closer. You listen to them, as they have coincidentally started as soon as the hand stopped. The footsteps stop near the door, and you wait as it opens.

Claudia storms into the room and bares her teeth at you, pointing at your pants. Scared, you pull her hand out of your pocket and hold it up to her. Her faces quickly changes into something of relief.

"Oh, that's okay," She says, "I thought you did something that I didn't want you to do."
"What would that be?" You ask.
"You should know," She says, "If you don't, then it's better if I don't tell you." She turns to leave.
"Um, Claudia," You say to her, trying to get her attention. She turns around.
"Yes?" She asks.
"It's boring here on my own." You say, "Would you like to stay for a while and do something?"
"Sure," She says, "Let me just get someone first." She leisurely runs out of the room and you breathe a sigh of relief. The most fear you've had in your life and it only lasted a second.

Claudia comes back, carrying a smiling head in her hands. As you already know that Claudia is detachable, you guess that the head was from a detachable person.

"Hi," The head says to you, "I'm Sarah."
"Nice to meet you Sarah," You say as you Claudia puts her head down on the coffee table, facing you. Claudia sits next to you on the sofa.

Claudia comes back, carrying Sarah in her hands. She puts Sarah down, facing you,  and sits next to you on the sofa.

"Hi Sarah," You say.
"Hi there," She says.

"I was told that you were doing something inappropriate with Claudia's hand," Sarah says to you.
"No," Claudia interrupts, "It was just in a pants pocket."
"Oh," Sarah says, "That sounds better."
"Where's your body?" You ask Sarah.
"It's dead," She replies, "Heart attack from genetics."
"Oh," You say, "Sorry to hear that."
"Don't apologise," She says in a comforting tone, "One: I'm still alive, even though I'm just a head. Two: You didn't do anything to cause the heart attack."
"Well I'm sorry for apologising," You say in a calm matter, making Sarah laugh a little.

"So how about a game on the Xbox?" Claudia chimes in.
"I'd like to play." You say.
"I would," Sarah says, "But as you can see I have no hands. I'll watch though."
"Don't worry Sarah," Claudia says, "I'll play next to you."

You feel something on your hand move and look at it. Claudia's hand is getting up on its fingers and getting off your hand towards her body. With one swift 'jump', her hand reattaches to her left arm, and she gets up to turn on the Xbox in the TV cabinet. She picks up two controllers and throws one to you, and with a free hand inserts a disc into the drive and turns the TV on.

Claudia heads back towards you but stops at the coffee table, leaning over it towards Sarah. Putting down her controller, she pulls off her neck and places her head next to Sarah, then detaches her hands and uses them to grab the controller and settle on the other side of Sarah.

"Come turn me towards the TV," Sarah says to you, and with one hand you rotate her head so it faces in the same direction as Claudia. You move closer to them, lying on the sofa to help relax. Claudia moves her body towards an empty sofa and lies down on it, having it almost go to sleep.

"I hope Halo 3's okay," She says as the game loads.

For the next couple of hours you have a lot of fun being obliterated by Claudia while you chat to Sarah. You learn that being a test subject is more fun and games than you originally thought and you have the freedom to do whatever you wish in the room as long as you stay in it.

When you finish it is getting towards lunch, so Sarah and Claudia decide to leave. Claudia returns her left hand to you to borrow with the statement "Just make sure you don't injure me or do anything inappropriate with it." As she heads out the door holding Sarah in her remaining hand. The door closes, and you turn around, just as the door opens again.

"Oh yeah," Claudia says from outside the room, "I'll be taking you to your briefing tomorrow."
"Briefing?" You ask her.
"The briefing is a boring thing that tells you about the project," Sarah says, interrupting Claudia. "Don't worry too much about it; you'll receive a binder all about the project."
"Oh, okay," You say, and close the door.

Heading back to the sofa, you clean off the coffee table and sit Claudia's hand on it, just as the door opens with the woman who guided you to your room on the first day holding a tray containing a sandwich and soft drink.

"Thanks," You say.
"No problem," The woman says.

Quickly eating the sandwich and drinking the soft drink like it was nothing, you turn your attention to Claudia's hand, which 'walks' on its fingers around the room until it gets tired. You pick it up and cradle it in your arms, then fall asleep on the sofa from the excitement of the day.

You wake up the morning after on the sofa, with Claudia's hand crushed within your crossed arms. Noticing that they are there, you loosen your arms and it crawls out, then stretches its fingers as if it's working out a cramp. When it looks like the cramp has gone, it crawls up to your shoulder and taps it.

You look at the hand, and seeing that it's pointing to the door, you stand up. The hand edges towards the top of your shoulder so it doesn't fall off, and you walk to the door and open it. Outside is Claudia, holding up her left arm to put the stump on it where her hand should be at your eye level. You hold up her hand and place it on her wrist, where it attaches.

"I just want to hold onto it until you finish at the briefing," She says, "I want to get this cramp from being crushed worked out."
"Yeah," You say apologetically, "Sorry about that."
"No problem," She says, "I know you fell asleep while holding it. Now could you please follow me."

Flexing her left hand, she walks down the hallway with you following, but not before you get a glance at the sign next to the door to your room. You remember that it has your name on it, but you take greater detail in the code underneath.

(This is where you make a decision as to what your tests are for. You can choose one and stick with it or just wait until the next part, which is divided into one text for each project, comes out. The four codes that you can choose from are:
• MT002-001
• CS001-002
• HR004-003
• O003-004
If you are unsure about what the codes mean, check the text 'Projects and their Codes', located under 'MagiCont' in the gallery.)

Heading down the hallway, you notice many doors like the one to your room, but with different names and codes. They litter the walls in a near never-ending fashion, until you reach some double doors which have a sign above saying 'Meeting/Briefing Room'.

"This used to just be a single door when I was a test subject," Claudia said, "It makes you wonder how long I've actually been here. Anyway, get inside and try not to fall asleep."

You walk inside the room, which is fairly dark and featureless. There is one central table that goes across the room, and a series of smaller tables scattered around this central table. You sit down on a chair opposite a man with two binders in front of him and a blackboard behind him, as he slides a binder with your name on it towards you…
I decided that the 'Welcome to MagiCont' interactive story needed to be continued, so I've introduced a part 2. This part does not have much interactivity, but as it explains, the next part will be explained with each choice from this one as a separate story.

If you are reading this part first, then I suggest that you go to part 1 and read from there. It will explain about the 'random' underlined and bold fonts within the text. Don't worry about seeing them in future parts, since they have no need to be used anymore.
